How metallic labels will help add a premium finish to your product

Do you want to add a shine to your product? Are you after a label that will last? Or do you want to put the pedal to the metal when it comes to sales?

From heavily embossed aluminium and pewter labels, metals can improve the attractiveness and quality of your labels.

High quality metallic labels suggest high quality products in consumers' minds, so upgrading the materials used in your labels can directly improve your sales and make your product stand out on the shelves.

In this article, we'll run through everything you need to know about the different types of metallic label available, and the processes used to give your product that extra metallic sheen.

Catching customers’ eyes with metallic labelling

So, what’s so special about metallic labels?

Perhaps most importantly, they’re shiny. We may joke about humans being magpies at heart, but there’s an element of truth to it. Shiny objects catch the light and stand out from competitors’ products on the shelf.

Have a look next time you're out at the shops. Take note of the labels that catch your eye the most, chances are they're the ones that catch the light!

Not only this, but we associate anything shiny with luxury. Even foil can remind our subconscious of gold and silver, feeding our magpie brains.

While such links are learned, it’s well known that even babies are also attracted to shiny objects. One scientific study found that humans’ attraction to a gleaming surface is innate, because it reminds us of that life-giving force: water.

So, a metallic label might suggest a product that’s not only luxurious, but also essential. In short, a customer magnet.

Or, how about pewter? This tin-based alloy is naturally an attractive silver-grey that really spells quality. You can metallise it in different colours, such as gold or even pink, to make your products stand out further.

Good quality tin is an alternative, and is highly prized for its adaptability. No matter what surface your product has, a tin label is likely to adhere well, combining both functionality and good looks, adding a touch of refinement that's sure to appeal to your target audience.

Cost effective alternatives to heavily embossed metal labels

At Premier Labels, we’ve developed our own production method that’s far more cost-effective than alternatives.

What does this mean in practise?

Our method allows us to effectively create the pewter label look with a price point which makes it viable for larger quantities.

For years, premium metallic labels have been prohibitively expensive. We're on a mission to change this.

If your budget doesn’t stretch to Premium embossed metal labels, our economical alternatives use label materials such as metallised paper or PP which can be printed with inks in either mono or full colour.

This means that we can reliably replicate the effect of the Premium Pewter and Tin labels at significantly lower cost.

These lower-cost materials can also be embossed to create raised, stand-out areas. Bear in mind that stiffer materials such as aluminium and paper hold embossed designs far better than PP, although not as well as the premium pewter and tin.

We recommend the cost-effective alternatives should your budget be limited, but you can't beat the real deal for both effect and impact!
